Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of H.O.P.E. Christian Collaboration! This is the sign-up application to become a member family of our co-op. Filling out this application does NOT guarantee a spot in our co-op, but it is the first step in the process.

After we review this application, a leadership team member will contact you to go over the next steps.

We advise that you read through our handbook, which includes our Statement of Faith, before filling out this application to ensure that you understand the qualifications for membership and that you feel this group is the right fit for your family.

Please allow yourself plenty of time to go through this application. There are many areas that should be read and considered carefully. There is no option to save your progress, so you must complete the application in one sitting.

CURRENT MEMBERS

This is where you come to update your information. We require that you update your information each school year to renew your membership. You can also come here to add or change information throughout the year when you need to make a change to any of your demographic information. If you change anything during the school year, please send Jessica a message on BAND letting her know that you've updated something so that we can make note of it.

FEES

In order to remain in the co-op, we do require that fees be paid on time (barring extenuating circumstances with approval from the Leadership Team). The following shows fees that will be due for the 2024-25 school year. Families only have to pay the $10 Web Maintenance Fee one time per school year.

Fall Semester:

$10 Web Maintenance Fee - Due on or before July 9, 2024 (Planning Meeting)

STATEMENT OF FAITH

The following is H.O.P.E. Christian Homeschool Co-op's statement of faith. It is important for those who belong to this co-op, as well as those who might be considering it, to understand what core beliefs this co-op stands for and is built upon. We do require that members agree with the Statement of Faith in full. However, if you find a point with which you disagree, we are open to discussion to determine if this group would still be a good fit for your family.

Please read and prayerfully consider each of the following points of the Statement of Faith: 1. THE BIBLE

The Bible, made up of the Old and New Testaments, is the divinely inspired Word of God, without errors in its original manuscripts, and is therefore authoritative in all matters it addresses. It provides an unchanging, absolute standard for everyday living, superior to conscience and human reasoning. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

5. SALVATION

6. THE HOLY SPIRIT

7. JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, has always existed. He was the Father's agent in creation. He came to earth as God in human flesh, being born of the virgin, Mary. He rose from the dead and showed Himself in His risen physical body and later ascended into heaven. He is the head of the Church and will return one day to judge all men. 8. SATAN

9. CHURCH

The Church is made up of all those who have trusted Christ for salvation. Jesus loves the Church and died for the Church, tenderly referring to the Church as His “Bride”. 10. MARRIAGE

God has established marriage as an exclusive relationship between one man and one woman and all intimate sexual activity outside the marriage relationship is immoral. (Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:18-24, Exodus 20:14, Matthew 19:4-9, Mark 10:5-9, Ephesians 5:31-33)

*We understand that in today's culture, this may cause hard feelings with some well-meaning families. It is very important that you understand that we are NOT an LGBTQ affirming group. It is also very important that you understand that we do not affirm sex outside of biblical marriage, even if it is heterosexual. We are NOT talking about past sins. If you have participated in immoral practices in the past and have repented and are in Christ, that is not our business at all. However, if you are participating in this currently (i.e. in a homosexual relationship, living with your boyfriend/girlfriend), and you are a Christian, we humbly implore you to consider what God's Word says about these things. Our desire for you is repentence and complete restoration! However, because you will be in a position of teaching our children, we would not be able to have you in our co-op until genuine repentance has taken place.

11. GENDER

God created the human race male and female. All conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one's birth gender is immoral. (Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

*Again, given our current culture, we understand that this may be upsetting to some families. As stated above, we are not an LGBTQ affirming group. It is important that you understand that if you currently consider yourself "transgender", affirm your biological child as the opposite gender to which they were born, believe that there are any other genders aside from male and female, or agree that it is moral and acceptable to be "transgender", then this group is not a good fit for you and your family.

12. SANCTITY OF LIFE

13. ADDITIONAL NOTES

We are a non-denominational Christian co-op, however we are Protestant in nature. Though we do not require that members be formally or technically Protestant, we do require complete agreement and adherence to the above principles and beliefs. Therefore, teachings and discussions in person and on BAND are not to go against these beliefs during co-op sessions, functions, or events.

It will be understood that Jesus and the Bible are allowed to be discussed in accordance with the statement of faith. However, we will strive to major on the major and minor on the minors when it comes to various controversial Biblical and Theological views. For instance, some Christian families participate in yoga, while others believe it should not be permitted; for issues like these that can be controversial, we have chosen to err on the side of caution to keep Christ the focus and not these minor disagreements.

Therefore, the following will not be permitted at co-op:

· Yoga, meditation, healing circles, etc.

· Halloween festivities or Pokemon cards

· Teaching of evolution and "climate change" as fact

· Using C.E./B.C.E. when teaching history (we will use A.D./B.C. terminology)

· Teaching or promoting “woke” culture or Critical Race Theory

· Teaching that only one version (or only specific versions) of the Bible is the "right" or "correct" version

Please understand that this is NOT a judgment on these things, just a caution we are taking in an attempt to avoid division over views that we do not consider salvation issues.

Christian Homeschool Organization, its leadership team members, volunteers, and fellow parents and students from any liability, claims, or demands for any accidents or injuries which may occur during participation in the co-op or any extra event/field trip held by the Organization. Furthermore, any medical expenses for my child(ren) or myself incurred due to these incidents would be my responsibility, and I agree not to seek out payment or compensation from the H.O.P.E. I understand that if at any time I feel that a situation or activity at the H.O.P.E. I understand that, while every effort will be made to lessen the risk of spread of communicable diseases/illnesses, the H.O.P.E. I also understand that because health information is protected, the Organization has no right to question a family's decision to or to not wear masks. 34. PARENTAL ATTENDANCE

The H.O.P.E. Christian Homeschool Co-op is not a drop off program. Parents are required to be present at co-op days and activites. If a parent is not attending, they cannot send their children with another family, even if that family would agree to be responsible for their child(ren). The ONLY exceptions to this rule are optional elementary, tween, and teen events and ONLY if the host of that event states that parents do not need to stay.

35. COMMITMENT TO TUESDAY CO-OP DAYS/ATTENDANCE

When you join our co-op, you are making a commitment to attend on regular Tuesday co-op days. When someone misses co-op, we have to assign a sub to fill in where they would normally be. In order for co-op to run smoothly, members need to make a serious commitment to attend. This commitment only pertains to Tuesday co-op classes. All other events are optional, including field trips, teen events, mom nights, etc.

We understand that family emergencies, illnesses, and planned family vacations happen. Vacations planned in advance are totally fine, but we do ask that if you already know you'd miss four or more Tuesdays due to vacations or other plans that cannot be changed, consider joining the following semester instead. For vacations planned in advance, notify Mary as soon as you are able, and if you are teaching a class, please have the lesson prepared for your helper ahead of time.

When you need to miss co-op due to illness, emergencies, etc., you need to follow these steps:

Text Mary as soon as possible (her cell phone number will be provided to you - this is the one exception to using BAND for co-op communication). You can text her in the middle of the night if needed. You will not wake her up. She will assign a sub for you.
If you are a teacher, contact your helper as soon as possible to let them know what the plan is for the day and where they can find materials to carry out the plan. (It is very helpful for you to keep a lesson and materials at co-op so that if you are absent, the materials are already there.) It is not

The following are examples of what would be an ACCEPTABLE reason to miss co-op on short notice (list is not exhaustive):

Illness for you or your children
Family emergency (death, severe illness, hospitalization, etc.)
Flat tire the morning of co-op

The following examples are NOT ACCEPTABLE reasons to miss co-op on short notice (list is not exhaustive):

You decided to paint your kitchen that day
You decided to garden that day
You or your child just didn't feel like coming that day
You decided to go to lunch with your friend or attend a playdate for your kids instead
You decided to attend a field trip instead

If you think that those kinds of reasons should allow a person to miss co-op classes, then it might be better for you to consider a social homeschool group instead of a homeschool co-op with classes. Most of the time, social groups do not require as big of a commitment.

Because we want our members to be committed to co-op days, we also ask that you do not share other events or happenings that would conflict with our Tuesday co-op classes or events on our BAND.

COMMUNICATION 36. Our main method of communication is through the social media group app, BAND. All co-op correspondence and event information will be posted on our main BAND page. If we need to communicate with you privately regarding anything related to co-op, it will be done via private message on the BAND app. Our BAND is private and not searchable. It can only be found using the direct link that we will provide for you. By saying "Yes" to this question, you agree to:

37. In addition to our main BAND page, we also have a Pictures & Videos BAND page. This is a private BAND where we share pictures and videos with each other from our co-op days and events. It is OPTIONAL to be a part of this BAND, but highly recommended if you'd like to see what your children have been doing in their classes. You can also download any pictures of your children that you would like to keep. Pictures and videos are only to be shared on this BAND, not our main BAND page.

38. If an issue should arise in co-op that requires the leadership team to contact you, we will typically do so through BAND first. If you would prefer to speak over the phone, you may respond to the message by asking to set up a time to speak over the phone. We do not keep track of who prefers what types of communication for specific issues. That means that even if you request a phone call for one issue, we will not assume that you need a phone call if another issue should arise. By answering "Yes" to this question, you are agreeing to be contacted via BAND if an issue should arise that needs your attention. You are also agreeing that if you do not request phone communication regarding that issue, we will assume that continued written communication via BAND is acceptable to you.

40. MEMBER AND LOCATION PRIVACY

We take the privacy and safety of our members very seriously. As such, you must agree to the following:

If you share any pictures from co-op days, field trips, or activities, whether you took the picture yourself or downloaded it from BAND, you must conceal the faces/identies of any other child or adult who is not in your family. This includes sharing pictures on social media, email, or text message.
You may not share the location where we meet on co-op days or extra events/field trips with anyone outside of our co-op or on social media.

Throughout the school year, we hold a few different events. Each member will be expected to serve on ONE event committee during this school year. Many hands make light work! Please choose ALL of the committees that you would be willing to serve on. You will not serve on all of your choices - you will only serve on one. But, by choosing all of the ones you are willing to help with, it helps us create the committees and have some flexibility. This also allows us to make sure everyone serves on a committee that they are happy to serve on. You must choose at least 3, but please choose as many as you are willing to be on.

Events that have dates set are events that we have already planned to have. Other events will be noted as "possible". These are events we may consider having if we have enough people who are willing to serve on those committees and if it is financially and logistically possible.

**REMEMBER: You are not committing to ALL of the committees you are willing to serve on. You will only serve on ONE committee, and it will be one of the ones you said you were willing to serve on.

47. Each event committee will need to have a head - the person in charge of delegating. If you enjoy leading and have the gift of delegation (meaning you won't just do all the work yourself, but will organize what needs to be done and assign jobs to the rest of the committee members), maybe you would consider being the head of a committee. Even if you mark that you are willing, it doesn't necessarily mean you will have to be the head of the committee you serve on. Please read the following carefully if you are applying for membership with our co-op for the first time:

Once you have submitted this application, the Leadership Team will review it. You will be contacted by someone from the team once your application has been reviewed via text or email to let you know if your application has passed our screening process and if you are on our waitlist. If you do not respond within 14 calendar days, we will assume that you no longer wish to be a part of our co-op, and we will remove your application from the system.
Once you respond to us to verify that you still wish to be on our waitlist, we will add you to our Potential Member BAND page so that you can get updates there regarding the wait list and announcements that are relevant to potential families. From that point on, we will only communicate with you via BAND regarding co-op business unless a phone call is specifically requested or makes sense for issues or questions that are too hard to text about.
When we start planning meet and greets for a semester, we will notify you if we have enough openings for new members to meet with you and your family for the upcoming semester. There will be a sign up with a couple days to choose from, and you will be able to choose a specific time. If you fail to respond or sign up within 14 calendar days of being notified that it is time, we will assume you no longer wish to be a part of our co-op and will remove your application from our system. If we have a long wait list, it is possible we will have meet and greets, but still not have room for some of the families in the Potential Member BAND.
For the meet and greet, we require that the parent who plans to attend co-op and their children ages 3 and up come to meet with us. Children that are younger than 3 are welcome to attend, it's just not a requirement. When there is another parent in the home, we would love to meet them too, but that is optional. Feel free to bring coloring books or other quiet activities to keep younger children busy if needed.
Before your meet and greet, please try to be familiar with the information on our FAQ page and Handbook so that you can ask any additional questions you may have about the information presented there. For instance, if you have come this far in the process, we will be surprised if you ask us what day we meet, what times we meet, etc. It makes sense that if a family is making a commitment to a group like this that they will have already researched this information.
At your meet and greet, we will discuss some of your application, ask you to share your testimony, talk with your kids to ask what kinds of things they like to do and what they are hoping to get out of the co-op, etc. We love meeting our new families!! You can also ask us additional questions you need clarification on, and get a feeling for if you still feel that our group is the right fit for you.
If at anytime between being put on the waitlist and your meet and greet, you decide you no longer wish to pursue membership with us, kindly let us know. We will then remove you from the Potential Member BAND, and we will remove your application from our system. You will be welcome to apply again anytime in the future.
